First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bellaire, Texas
As a branch of The Mother Church in Boston, MA, this church shares its mission “…to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” (Church Manual, p. 17)
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bellaire, Texas welcomes everyone to their church services. At this time we hold in person Sunday services in Spanish at 9:00 a.m. and in English at 10:30 a.m. and we hold our Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m.
During our silent prayer the congregation prays for and expects healing for our members and visitors. “The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science. . .” is stated in our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
Our Sunday School invites students from three years to twenty years to join us at 10:30 a.m. to learn more about our relationship with God, by studying the Bible stories and learning about the characters in the Bible as well as becoming familiar with our textbook. Loving teachers guide students through age-appropriate lessons. We have a Children’s Room for those too young to attend Sunday School where they are lovingly cared for.
If you visit our Reading Room, you’ll find a comfortable study room with individual desks containing books marked with the current week’s Bible lesson—in both Spanish and English—as well as several bible reference books, dictionaries, and biographies of Mrs. Eddy. Visitors may use our computer to log on to Christian Science.com, or JSH-Online, or watch lectures online. The sales room has up-to-date items to enhance your study. We accept cash, check and credit cards.
