The concert will feature the Prince Street Singers including our soloist, Lauren Pastorek, and pianist Melisa Gultan.

The Christian Science Journal published an article this month by Jan Kassahn Keeler titled, God’s provision and launching out “into the deep”:

Simon, James, and John were fishing partners who had worked all night without success. Despite their skill and effort, they caught nothing. When Jesus instructed them to “launch out into the deep,” they obeyed—and their nets became so full of fish they nearly broke. This biblical account illustrates a fundamental truth: spiritual understanding transforms circumstances that human effort alone cannot resolve.

All good, all substance, is from God, who is infinite Mind. God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Supply is actually God’s thoughts and ideas. These cannot be blocked, restricted, or depressed.

I have several go-to statements from my study of Christian Science, one of which has been a beacon and a rock with its assurance and expectation of God’s, divine Love’s, deliverance: “Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 149–150).

This statement by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, is universally applicable—to anyone in any situation—and it echoes the beloved twenty-third Psalm, which says, “I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” (verse 4)…

Not long ago, I found myself deep into a complex project at work that involved many parties within and without my organization. It was a task far bigger than any I’d worked on previously, and I feared that I was in over my head. I hardly knew where to begin to put together the foundational pillars that would support a successful outcome. I worried that I might make a mistake that would result in disaster or that my colleagues would realize that I didn’t have what it took to lead such a high-stakes project.

Anxiety about my work was new to me. I’d always been cool and easygoing under pressure. When coworkers would ask how I managed to be unfazed by the demands of the job, I would joke that I had tried stress once and it wasn’t for me,
so I simply didn’t do stress…

Believing in God was never a problem for me. But I knew I needed a clearer understanding. A relative mentioned two words, Christian and Science, together, which made perfect sense to me, as it has to countless people. 

I was a teenager when I first visited a Christian Science Reading Room to learn about metaphysical healing. While I was there, I found books and magazines about current healings, and I became curious about Christian Scientists themselves. I eventually discovered that they come from all walks of life and comprise a diverse global community. Through my exploration of spiritual healing, I also learned to think of God as “impartial and universal” Love (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 13)…
